Before Easter, Mercer decorated an egg tree that grandma from New Jersey sent down. We also read a book about an egg tree from the library - so now Mercer wants to make one (with real eggs). I blew out eggs and we dyed the empty shells, but maybe we'll wait 'til next year to paint scenes on the eggs.
Mercer and I dyed / decorated hard boiled eggs. Mercer also asked to buy carrots to leave out for the Easter bunny. So... we did. And - the bunny left a plate of chocolates and a basket for both Mercer and Isabella.
Mercer got a new "You Can Read" Bible. He read the story about Jesus' rebirth before we ate breakfast. It was pretty cool / he was excited that he could read it on his own! And there was some candy in there that he was excited about as well. Isabella likes all of the soft fuzzy things that she got! She got a story of Easter book too, but one we read to her, of course.
Isabella loves to blow kisses (even when wearing bunny ears)
Recognize those booties? We pulled out Mercer's lamb booties for her to wear. They're just adorable!
The Sunday morning photos of the kids are sort of on the run. It was really hard to get both of them staring at the camera - or even smiling - at the same time.
We did some things a little different this year. We went to an earlier church service than normal, then we went for a picnic and a hike instead of making a big lunch. Isabella couldn't quite stay awake for the picnic, but it was still really nice!
Here is a shot of Mercer skipping stones in the water (notice the horses that are walking through the stream behind him! We even hunted for some letterboxes on our hike and the last one we found was a carve of a couple of rabbits! How fitting :)
It was rainy again this year. The annual neighborhood egg hunt was put off 'til the week after Easter, but at least we had it!
(Mercer's egg hunt at school was postponed a week as well.)
Isabella slept through most of it / missed the individual hunts at the neighbors yards, but.... she made it in time for the group photo. We held a mini-hunt for her and Mercer after the neighborhood party was over so that she could experience the thrill of the hunt. :) Her eggs did not have candy in them, but Mercer's did - so he was happy to have a 7th hunt for the day!
Finally - here are some "official" Easter photos that we sent out in some cards to the grandparents. We signed up for a 15 minute "mini-session" with a photographer who introduced us to a place with waterfalls and ruins + she rented a lamb for the shoot! We've not had a photo session like this before. It was kind of fun + we were glad to have been introduced to a new spot in north Georgia + a really cool playground that the kids played at (in their nice clothes of course) for hours afterwards!
We definitely created some nice memories this Easter with our sweet little family~
