A couple of reasons to celebrate Mercer this week!

We celebrated Mercer's 11th adoption day anniversary earlier this week -- on September 5th.

It was a pretty normal day - however - after school / after work, we offered to take him out to dinner and/or an activity.... his choice.  We went to a movie and dinner (on a school night.... ooooh).  There's a movie theater that has trays built into the seating and a wait staff:  Studio Movie Grill.

It's a little expensive, but it does save some time to do both simultaneously.  We watched Toy Story 4, then, when we got home, we had a little gift for him... as has been our tradition the past 10 years.  We always try to celebrate this day to let him know how happy we are that he's a part of our family.

Here's a throw-back picture of this little cutie 11 years ago on his actual adoption day.

His 1st adoption day, we had the adoption party, so that's why only 10 gifts for 11 adoption days :)  Plus, he was only 6 months old, so he wouldn't have remembered a gift anyways.

I think he was just starting to eat solid foods, so the goopy rice powder was his "gift" back then.  ha!

Earlier this weekend, Mercer his his 1st out-of-the-park HOME RUN!!

He has gotten close several times to hitting one over, but yesterday was the day!  Unfortunately, I was in a teaching class all day,so I didn't get to see it. Todd was coaching so he couldn't snap a photo. But... a coach from another team who was upstairs in the "press box" area apparently videos a lot of the games (Todd suspects to scout out the other team's talent).  He edited his video down and sent Todd a YouTube Link!

You can only see the ball in the video after Mercer hits it for a second.  Todd said that it went above the fence -- into the nets -- about 10 - 15' above the fence.  He said it was a bomb!  It hit the net and dropped.  Apparently Mercer wasn't quite sure that it went over the fence so he was running as fast as he could around the bases.  I took a bunch of photos from the video link so that it could be seen in the blog....

The first couple of pictures above are of him swinging and hitting.  Then he's running to 1st.  There are photos again as he's coming around 3rd base because his teammates are starting to come out.  The rest of the photos below are of him crossing the plate then celebrating afterwards.

They didn't win the game, but my favorite moment of this game / shown in the video is when his teammates come out to greet him and cheer around him.  (LOVE)

He was soooo excited!

No pressure, but hopefully he'll do it again so I can see it live some time!
